First I would point out that I never "beat the crap" out of my knives. If I need to chop something, I get an ax.
As for favorites...
My all-day, everyday knife is the Victorinox Fieldmaster.
My current favorite fixed blade is the Buck Alpha Hunter w/ rosewood scales.
When he gets back into making knives again (he's been in the process of moving from Great Brittain to the USA), I plan on buying a Huntsman from RobTattoo Knives
