I have lived in a boarding house before. It sucks I know. I would say for your windows, get a security film, slide bolt locks, and a cheep ($10) buzzer alarm. For the door, if you can, an extra sheet of plywood on the inside may be enough to keep someone like a crackhead out. Along with extra locks I mean. Thats the cheapest thing I know of and exactly what I did. I kept all my gear, guns, and toys in my room. I also let everyone know that I installed a full on system (i just let the little cheap window alarm go off a few times)
