my sister uses magnets for closure on the bags and such she makes, she uses the type of magnet you get in fridge doors and such like (the flexible stuff) one sewn into the bag and one into the closure flap. do a google or ebay search and you should be able to find what you need

im not sure the exact magnets - but women's purses these days have them. if you want to experiment on the strength - go to the local goodwill store and find a purse with the magnet closure - but it real cheap - cut the magnet out and there is a prototype that should be pretty close to what you want (since it was designed to keep the purse shut should be strong enough for a pocket). you can then hunt down similar magnets in quantity if needed (I dont recommend buying 100 purses)

You can buy magnets at most craft stores. They even sell them at the local Wal-Mart in the crafts department. There is both the solid kind and the flexible kind. It will be a trial and error process, as you want the best bond you can get, and the fabric holding it in will affect that bond. And I bet at least once you will insert a magnet 180 degrees off

I have some rivers west hunting rain wear that all the pockets have rare earth magnet flap closures. The good = they hold real well and they dont make noise . The bad the tag on the clothes says not to wear if you have electronic implants ( pace maker, defibulator or drug pump ect. ) and may effect GPS and other electronics. I can not hold my compass far enough away from the jacket so as not to screw it up, I have to take my jaket off to use the compass and it effects the electronic compass in my GPS . I think I still like old fashion buttons

Not only that, but after I close them (which is practically as difficult as doing the splits, eventually you can do it but it takes time!), they poof out looking like little wings LOLYeah, one flat piece of magnet would be a God-send! I will just have to look at it and find a way to sew it in. I am tired of going to that old crabby lady seamstress down the road!
