On leather I recommend 100% mink oil. Make sure to remove caked on mud etc, then slather on a liberal portion of mink oil. Let set overnight at room temperature. The next morning, a good buffing by tall dry grasses as you hike through a field and your boots are not only beautiful again, they are all set for whatever you choose to trod through. |

I have used mink oil and I have used bear fat. The mink oil works great the bear fat works but it can get stinky. I have used to sno-seal also with good results and like other have said I cleaned them first and the used a hair dryer to get the stuff melted into the leather.

i have used dubbin , mink oil, nikwax and snow seal and havent really noticed much of a difference. be sure the boots are clean and i warm with a hair dryer before appication. what ever you use do it regular and use generously. at the moment i have some miendl boots that the store recommends and stocks some stuff made by miendl, seems okay and they claim is the best ,sure.
