Bought a new pair of gloves will give a good review when its cold enough to use them. I have a pair of outdoor research windstopper grippers and they have been fantastic so got some alti's to try out.

alpine, you've got some great gear. For years I've wanted a real nice pair of expedition style waterproof overmits to layer over my liner gloves and wool mittens. best I've seen for what I want is around 100 beans. got some cheap at LL bean last year for $30; waterproof but they didn't have large enough to layer like I want. its on the 10yr plan

Those are really nice. I might have to pick a pair up, just to test them out. My hands get really cold, and gloves are usually a tough thing for me. Either they are not insulated enough and my hands freeze, or they have too much and any time I exert like snowshoveling, find myself with sweat-soaked linings. I have moved over to the old Air Force-style shooters mitten, with the removable wool liners. I got both the shells and index-finger wool mitten liners from Sportman's Guide. I also picked up a pack of wool glove liners as well, in case I want more dexterity if I take off the shell.

Mitts with liners: New U.S. Military Trigger Finger Mitt Kit, Olive Drab, Military Surplus, Brand Not Specified at Sportsman's Guide

Glove liners: 5 - Prs. Of New U.S. Military Size Medium / Large Glove Liners, Brown, Military Surplus, Brand Not Specified at Sportsman's Guide

Cheap and PLENTY of liners. The mitts come with 2 shells and 8 liner mitts for $20, and the glove liners are a pack of 5 for $15. Last year I had several days of straight snowfall and I was pretty glad to have some extra liners, since I had the ones from the previous day drying by the fireplace each night.

with the stuff you do, your hands and feet are lifelines. In your shoes I'd spare no expense (for those winter presi traverses and such)

Like I said, I may end up buying a pair of the OR's for winter hikes and such. They look great, and I would be interested in how they perform in RW testing. You do a ton of outdoor climbing and trail work, so I am looking forward to what you think of them once you have gotten to use them for a while.
