Are you planning on being a multi-generational, limited gene pool, pasty-grey alien clone? 'Cause if you are, I have a standing request for a teleporter, a warp drive and some of those Zat guns.

Personally, I think there IS a plan for us or WAS a plan set in place by a series of events from another world or definetly something we do not understand. I don't believe we are humans in the form we are now simply by mistake, evolution or some bacteria that formed in a swamp somewhere that evolved for millions of years as crazy as that sounds. Humans are a very very young species but have evolved at tremendous rates and I say this as a realist of a person. So whatever plan is for us or none at all who knows but until then I am going to play hard, party hard, work hard, be a good person/farther/family/friend and take it day by day while always keeping one foot in front of the other moving forward and thinking outside the box. But thats just me.

Well, if it WAS a plan, it sure took it's good ol' sweet time GETTING to us . We are just a late-arriving blip in the great scheme of life that has existed here for over 3 billion years. Thinking, rational, "human" beings are barely 25,000 years old, and "civilized" people only 5000-8000 years old, depending on what you call civilized (herding? agriculture? towns? permanent structures like Stonehenge?). Judging by the rate at which we are burning the candle at both ends, I am thinking that if we don't change what we are doing in a hurry, we won't be around for another 5000 years.

I say always treat the day as though it might be your last, and try not to go to sleep at night knowing there are things you would regret if you didn't wake up tomorrow, Alpine. Good to see someone who feels the same way.

Well, I am one that does trust in the Bible as the word of God and you know what it says,

There will be huge wars: Mark 13:7, Rev. 19:17ff
Earthquakes: Mark 13:8
Famines: Mark 13:8
And these are just the beginning.

The the S does really HTF... over the course of 3.5 years:
All vegetation dies: Rev. 8:7
1/3 of sea creatures die: Rev 8:9
Meteors: Rev 8:10
Insect pestilence: Rev. 9:3
1/3 of population dies in plauges: Rev. 9:18

Many of these things will be explained away by the very natural phenomenon that scientists warn of now. We can prepare, and I believe we should, but eventually we will all perish from this earth. But we can have the eternal hope which lies in the savior Jesus Christ, who wants none to perish.

The end of the story is to accept that we cannot save ourselves, and those who trust in Him will be will be saved in eternity. And the remainder will not.

Now, I know many people will reject this. Many will argue "how can a good God do this", etc. That is not for me to argue, and I will not argue it here. I am only stating what I believe.

If anyone is truly interested in talking about this with an open mind, please PM me.

I think two things that MOST people have no concept of is moderation and conservation.

We overindulge in things that are bad for us (fast food, etc.) and then scream and complain about the cost of health care. Of COURSE it's going to go up...supply and demand. People keep trashing their bodies, so certainly they are going to need to go to the doctor for help.

Have an eating problem? Let's staple your stomach, cause ya know, there is no such thing as self-control.

Overweight? Let's suck it out, because that exercise thing? yeah, it's a myth.

Heck, even people having kids for the most part don't practice moderation. My grandmother is one of 9 kids. Sure that's a lot...until you realize that her parents ran a farm, and ALL the kids worked the farm. They didn't have any way to PAY people to help them work the fields, or milk the cows, etc...they had to MAKE their help.

Today, people say "I want a big family" and I would like to ask them WHY? What REAL purpose does it serve? Do you have need for the extra hands? If it's about having more people to love, or love you, then volunteer to work with kids, or adopt. There are LOTS of decent kids out there that would give anything to be part of a loving, caring family, even if they weren't blood related to them.

I know it's a rant, but it's just something that came to mind so I thought I would toss it out for consideration.

I have one kid. One terrific little boy, and while I sometimes think it would be nice to have another, I don't see any practicality in it at this point in time. If TSHTF, and we have to fend for ourselves, farm land, and raise cattle again, then ya, I would say having one or 2 more might come in handy, but in the meantime, I am happy to give all my love to the one I have now, and not be TOO greedy.

so what you are saying cw is that the asguard are really old california types who have had too much body waxing and face lifts - thor is really joan rivers

just a thought but I reckon global thermonuclear war is the option to climate change - nuke the cities, cause a nuclear winter which will allow everything to cool down a bit and kill a few more off then mankind will become subserviant to either talking apes or giant radioactive ants

My thought;

The Big Bang is yet to come, for we are an uncivilized civilization of monsters, still trying to figure out just what in the world we are doing here. We just keep on searching for our own little answer, but try to maintain a difference with everyone else's answer, just to have something to argue about. Nobody actually wins the fight.

It's like a dog in the backyard. He'll dig a hole in the dirt to get to the cool soil below the surface, trying to escape the heat of the day. When he gets up to use the bathroom or chase a squirrel, he comes back to soil, now warmed by the sun. He'll then either dig further into that hole or dig another. Before long, his ankle deep hole is now over a foot deep. Soon after, there will be numerous holes...all getting deeper every day. Eventually, the dog's owner is going to come out, with a shovel, and start filling in the holes...and possibly add the dog to one of them.

Moral of the story;
There is an end in sight, for all things. As well will there be new beginnings.

But, just for giggles, the image is from an actual group that seeks voluntary human expiration.(suicide) However, since they run their own show, they cannot be considered likely self-participants.
The voluntary human extinction project is about sterilization, not individual suicide. At least that's what it was when I first saw the group about 10 years ago.

I think a bit of both is required, there should be some measure of birth and death control. If you have the option of retiring early in order to enjoy it while youre young before getting the needle a lot of folks will do it. same if you sponsor social third world health and welfare programs then you'll have less mouths to feed in societies where you have more kids to look after you in your old age

Food aid should be only given with reversible or non-reversible sterilisation attached. What we have now, food aid hole is getting bigger and bigger.

With drastic climate change there might be not be enough food to give.

Then they will probably come to get it and it will be first real life dilemma what to do?
