In Australia we have “Cleanup Australia Day”, once a year.

Idea great, but so may people leave garbage everywhere that one day of filthy hard work doesn’t make Australia beautiful, as garbage comes back and within days you don’t see any difference.

Shops will stop issuing plastic bags by law, because so many bags are left around.

Personally I don’t think this is the way to go, but like humps on roads, they only slow down and damage cars of every day folk, but hoons fly over them especially in stolen cars and they laugh their heads off.

People don’t kill me…guns kill me.
Oh…wait now, I think I may have gotten that backwards.

I understand how you feel even my 6 year old understands. We were on a short hike out to some ruins of a cabin and after we arrived there was trash, beer cans and even used condoms evrywhere and my boys said "We pick our trash up in our house." If people would start respecting each other and the earth and property we were blessed with this world would be a lot better off.

I've found trash in the wilderness with people's addresses on old mail. This leads to some fun monkeywrenching. The trash is collected and RETURNED to the owner. I've returned it at their home, business and church.

You know most of these people who left the trash will either be struggling to survive, or raiding others when SHTF. maybe setting up some motion activated game cams at these places would be a good idea so you know who to look out for when the SHTF.

I frequently take my dogs on hikes with me and on numerous occasions they have picked up one type of trash or another left behind by people. If I can clean up after my dogs, people should do like wise with candy rappers and soda bottles etc. Beware also of plastic and glass bottles with liquids in them not only could these contain human urine but my years of law enforcement have taught me they could also contain harmful chemicals used to make crystal meth or a harmful byproduct of the process.

I have found even worse then trash. I have actually found whole marijuanna gardens complete with a spring, shack, and boatloads of illegals.(There are actually people with jobs in my state to go hiking for weeks in desolate mountain ranges to find these illegal grow sites)

It's disgusting. Can't say I find much in the woods, because most of my camping/hiking is through Boy Scouts. I do my best not to leave anything behind, and it really disgusts me to walk up to a stream and see cigarettes or condoms floating down. I really try to make sure I have as little impact as possible, and I've gotta say I do better than a lot of people up around here.

Honestly, though, it makes me sick.

Had a sad moment over the summer. I have some amphibians that require cold water so for a week in August I needed to resort to floating a water bottle filled with ice in the water to help keep the temperature down. The sad thing was here I have this beautiful nature set up for them with this Poland Spring bottle floating in the water....AND IT LOOKED LIKE IT BELONGED THERE. I have come to see so much trash in the woods that it looked like it was supposed to be there. People are lazy and too many people go through life thinking someone else will always be there to clean up after them.
