Default Greenhouse or Shelter

I found this while browsing around and it looks absolutely doable on a budget.
This could be useful as an emergency shelter or a stationary greenhouse.

Not a bad idea, Id probably build the front and back permanant, so Id only have to drape plastic over the top. Thanks!

You're welcome. I'm looking at this as a multi-purpose shelter actually. Part greenhouse/kitchen area and storing area. I think it would work.

I considered the design for my horse run in. I was planning to use posts anchored in concrete and chain link fence top rail bolted to the posts after forming the arc. Decided on a flat roof better for the horses.

bubble wrap makes a good winter greenhouse cover I make a cover for a friend using copper plumbing pipe and fittings with a winter cover and it worked a treat.

mors kochanski has a habit of getting his uni students to look at things and he came up with a straightforward polythene shelter for 10 people where they worked out the heat given off vs the space of the shelter for maximum efficiency. I think its in one of the mini booklets he sells.

bubble wrap is still cheap though, try it as an emergency blanket bubble side in.

he wrote bushcraft back in '87 (his publisher chose the name as he didnt want a survival manual to compete with the SAS one) apparently he gets pestered for a new one but at 70 odd he's happy producing little booklets.

supposedly he wants to finish a newer book before he goes off to the happy hunting ground. the story of the first one is interesting and explains a lot - he wanted photos but they would only pay for line drawings which shows as most manuals from then were like that. I've got two with proper pics and they are better visually. even the fm21 manual has a colour picture suppliment to it now.

kev - if you ever get chance then you should see him live. he rambles on like words are going out of fashion but the knowledge is encyclopedic as long as you deal with the 30 min sojourns around memory lane.

he has a really good knife excercise where you whittle the 9 usefull joints all on the same stick. takes him 30 mins took me 6 hours
