tried my firesteel scraper and the back of the saw on my SAK - please let me know if there's a better alternative!!

For scraping the shavings I use the back spine of my fixed blade knife. I have squared the edges on a small section at 90 degrees so that a fairly sharp edge was created. I also use the back edge of a hacksaw blade. Both work well, but the handle on the fixed blade is nice for when the arthritis is acting up.

maybe have to square the edge of my blade; sounds like better purchase would help a lot.
