I have built all of my first aid kits, because I can pick the supplies and the container for the way it will be used and carried.

there are some very good kits that can be purchased ,but they will always be only a start point.as you comb thru this site you will find many lists of what people carry, i would suggest reading them, and putting together all items that aply to the season and your area. this probally will be an excellent place to start from . it seems to me that the people who have posted these lists have done great jobs. it may not be everything for you,.. but this will give you a kit to handle the types of things that we are preparing for.

I just toned mine down big time cuz I'm only doing day trips and felt I was carrying too much junk. ready for some cuts and blisters, splinters thats about it. got a heavy flow maxi pad to soak blood from a major cut; duct tape; cayanne pepper (which I learned here stops minor bleeding), tylenol, a few bandaids, gauze pads, moleskin and iodine. bought some packages at pharmacy, packed a few and put the rest in meds cabinet.

I build-up my own first-aid kit. I got two, a main kit at home and a small one in my SUV's BOB. To add on to those listed by Bros here, I would advise the addition of: 1. Lozenges (with anti-inflamatory and anti-cough) - may not be available over the counter. 2. Medical charcoal pills 3. Pressure Bandage with Celox/Woundstat pack together for fast application. 4. Antiseptic wash/lotion etc Cheers Last edited by dtcepl; 10-23-2009 at 23:30. |

| ok, I read it somewhere here in the early days; never followed up with someone like CW to see if it was ok; but I have some at home, had a very small but bleeding cut and tried it out; does not sting as much as you might think, and it stopped the bleed. so I put a bit in a little jewlers zip loc and threw it in the kit until I hear a reason not to of course |

| Superior Chronicle -- Cayenne Good for a lot of other things too. Also, not bad in food, I hear. Hehehe!
