my point exactly. Altho I realize that Mercola is a commercial website I do not take medical advice from them. I also realize that this flu is real. I only wanted to point out the statistics and that so many people die every year from flu and flu caused sickness. I believe that it is over hyped.

everything the govt does is overhyped. there will always be deaths when a new strain of virus developes. until our bodies adapt to fight the new strain some are going to die. once our bodies learn to fight it and become more immune to it, the virus will mutate/evolve into something our bodies have to learn to fight all over again. once we ''get rid(become immune) to H1N1 something worse will pop up and kill thousands and it will be a whole new epidemic. in reality its natures way of culling the herd. if people didnt die this world would be a much more crowded place(imagine china if no one died). thats my opinion

Yep. Donald Rumsfeld is behind the Tamiflu treatment, that was espoused to be the only cure for the bird flu... what, and now the swine flu too?

Lets not forget also that the cause of this whole outbreak in the first place was a LAB. A lab that produces ...(drumroll)... VACCINES! I have not seen anywhere that has even tried to make the link yet, I think it is all part of a coverup They are probably raking in billions off of their own "accident"

Be prepared for something to happen soon with this. I'm hearing all kinds of "chatter" ( ) about this smike and mirrors stuff. Either the first phase of the pandemic is going to be over (a more serious mutation on the way), the next round of vaccines on the way (maybe more dangerous now the sheeple have started lining up), or it's a distraction for something worse. We could be looking at martial law in the next month or so. I wouldn't be making travel plans for Thanksgiving.

If the people were all freaking out about some disease, and the government were going "Mehh - people die every year from a normal flu so we're not doing anything about this", would everyone not be all up in arms because the government were doing nothing.

H1N1 is not that much worse in it's effects than many other branches of the influenza family. What is different is how fast it spreads and how fast the symptoms set in.

When people started talking about the WHO and pandemic's, everyone suddenly seemed to think this was on a par with Ebola. What people forget is a Pandemic refers only to the spread and transmission prevelance of a disease. We could have a Pandemic of day-glo yellow spots on people's noses. It would still be a "Pandemic" but not the end of the world.

To a certain extent, I feel governments are between a rock and a hard place on this one.

If they react and take precautions, they "are feeding the panic"
If they take a slightly more measured response they are "not taking it seriously enough"
If they take limited precautions they "don't care about peoples lives"

So, if you are a policy maker and are going to be critised no matter what, you may as well react strongly and take extensive precautions. That way, if it is worse than people thought, at least your A* * is covered.

A lot of good points here, we must remember Pandemic and Epidemic are two different words. We still come across a lot of folks who don't realize the difference. Education is the key to keeping the masses calm in my view.

swine flu (daft name as all flu came from pigs) is hyped up by those in the pockets of the drug companies. there's profit in them thar vaccines and its worth scaring the folks into believing they will all die and that the govt should be seen as being all saving. anti virals are a waste of money only cutting the symptoms by a day which isnt worth the side effects.

strangely here they have gone a different route and havent made a big thing out of the 155 people in intensive care which is about right regardless of how many catch it there will allways be some deaths from complications.

all the folks taking their kids to be vaccinated is a waste of time as the young arent at risk, neither are the elderly, its the parents themselves who are likely to die from it.

and if rumbsfelt had anything at all to do with it then you can guarantee its a neocon plot
