Oh No! I hate poison ivy. I was going to try plantain this year if I got it but I didn't. And I have a yard full of plantain too.

Got any in your yard? You can report back as to how well it works. You can be the test subject. heheheh

Well, I've got Plantain everywhere but a whole pound????
Healing salve: In large non-metallic pan place 1lb. of entire Plantain plant chopped, and 1 cup lard, cover, cook down on low heat till all is mushy and green. Strain while hot, cool and use for burns, insect bites, rashes, and all sores. Note: used as night cream for wrinkles.
OMG! That's a lot of plantain!!! I'll be picking for days and by then it'll be gone. LOL

Not helpful to Kevin, but before the rash comes, but after you think you have been in poison ivy, I have had great luck (knock wood for the future) with washing my hands, arms, feet with a bleach/water solution then rinsing thoroughly. I know we had poison ivy on our property as others got hit with it who were working where I was, and I did not experience any outbreaks of the rash when others did - but I washed with the 50/50 solution and warm water as soon as I got inside. Just a thought for the future.

I'm fortunate that I've always been completely immune to poison ivy. In fact when I was around 18 my brother dared me to eat it. So I plucked off the 3 shiny leaves and began to chow. Wasn't all that bad. Easy 20 bucks.

pure bleach works as a post exposure treatment (like was mentioned with the 5050) just poor pure bleach on the rash. it will hurt like a SOB but it will get rid of it in a couple days do two or three times a day. the bleach dries out the rash. allowing it to heal.
