I'm certainly no veterinarian, but I have used vet meds on myself and my family for years. I get mine from Thomas Labs. You can Google it and order online. We've walked into the place in person and bought antibiotics without Rx before, but you can order antibiotics online without Rx for your poor sick tropical fish any time. As long as you know what you're doing, as long as you clearly understand what anti is good for what ails you, as long as you have a trustworthy guideline (like "Where There Is No Doctor" or personal experience with the med) so you know dosage and interval, you should be okay.

Personally, now that I have great medical insurance, easy and quick access to medical advice on minor ailments through a minute clinic, and can afford Rx using the Wal-Mart formulary, I would only buy vet antibiotics now to stock up for a SHTF scenario. Second choice would be to go across the border and buy in a Mexican pharmacy.

I agree CM, it is strictly for prep. I was looking in the Revival catalog and see where they have the 35 suture staple gun for about $8. I think that would be a great asset. Staples are better for skin, less irritation and infection. They have inj. PenG for about $7.00 per lg vial. Also dental instruments, surg. packs, lidocaine, the list goes on. Even I.V. setups with lac. ring. |

I'm not a vet, but as my vet explained it to me, a lot of the meds you get from them for your pets is the exact same stuff that is given to us humans. However, they did say that, much like with animal foods, the guidelines for cleanliness and sterile environments and such aren't as stringent as they are in the human versions of the same meds. So you could have a problem arise from using pet meds, but it's not very likely, and even if it did it would likely be something minor. As CM said, though, if you do go this route, make sure you know darn well what you're doing as far as diagnosis and dosages.
