 any idea what this plant and little bugs are?
saw these little guys while searching for catipillars w/ my son on local conservation land. anyone know what the bugs/plant is?

It kind of looks like a golden rod (Solidago spp.). The flies appear to be one of the many flies from the orderDiptera (houseflies, fruitflies,...) and are likely feeding on the pollen.
