Default Ginsing?

We can legally dig 5 year old ginsing now but I am having trouble finding the projected price for this coming year. Has anyone heard anything? Your help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hey there VT,

This site doesn't give an exact price forecast, but it seems to be loaded with good info: WildGrown.com - Home

The September 2009 Issue of "Fur-Fish-Game" Magazine forecasts $250-$300 a pound for exportable fresh Wild Ginseng root.

I checked out that site and I knew I saw a few plants here. I'll have to go looking for them. I'm always so excited when I find something cool right near the house!

You kind of have to develop an eye for ginseng, because there are several plants that look like it. I learned by going ginsenging with my grandpa for years. We always looked forward to that every year. That was mine and his alone time.

Yeah, I KNOW I saw it. When it emerged in spring and with the red berries clumped in the middle. I think I found it but am not sure since I only have the 3 stems with 5 leaves. I did a search and saw Sarsparilla looks similar. But some sites indicated Sarsparilla and Wild Ginseng were the same. Is there any definite way to tell short of digging one up?

For me, I always look at the prong's and the seed pods in the middle of them. That is what draws my attention. Then I look at the leaves for a positive I.D.

I'm going to take a picture this weekend and post it to see what your opinion is.

I'm working a long day tomorrow but will try to get it on here Sunday.
I may dig a root of the largest plant too.

I won't be sad if it's Sarsparilla since it is useful too.
