Default Raising Ginseng

I ordered myself some ginseng seed's to plant on my property to try and get it started growing on it. I own almost 14 acres and most of it is wooded. I asked my son today if he would help me plant the seeds this weekend so we plan on doing it Saturday.
I know that some of it won't come up and I will lose some to rodents but 8oz.of seeds is a lot. I got them in the mail today and I was surprised at how many seeds were in the package. It should keep us busy for a while Saturday planting them.
I will keep you posted after we get them planted on how it went.

VT -

A.R. Harding, in the 1972 Revision of his book "Ginseng and Other Medicinal Plants", states that he was generating a revenue of up to $50,000 an acre on small plots of six year old Ginseng.

Sounds like a lucrative business, stick with it and Good Luck.

Were did you order your seeds from? I have not been able to locate seed stocks, I already have ginseng on my property but I would like to grow some closer to the house.

They grow a lot of ginseng in the dry hot valleys in the southern part of this Province. They cover the entire crop with a black mesh to shade the plants.

From what I understand the market got over saturated due to over production and the prices have hit rock bottom.

I am not worried about the market price right now, because it will take it 6-10 years to get big enough to sell. That's providing it grows at all.
