Default Just ordered a new book on edible plants.

I have been looking around for awhile on books of edible plants because I know its a weak area of mine.

I settled on The Forager's Harvest: A Guide to Identifying, Harvesting, and Preparing Edible Wild Plants - Samuel Thayer

Its all colored photo's which is crucial to me in buying a book like this and its got great reviews especially on the east coast region and new england where I live.

Did I make a wise choice if anyone has it?

Will definetly do that. The reviews are through the roof on it so I figured why not take the chance.

I have The Foragers Harvest in my book collection as well and I like it a lot. Another book that you may want to consider is Petersons Guide to Edible and Medicinal Wild Plants. It has color photos as well and it tells you when, where and how to collect the plants and how to prepare them. It goes well with The Foragers Harvest. I think that it is money well spent.

Has anyone here got an edible plants book for the Rocky Mountains(Colorado)? I've been looking for one but still haven't bought one yet. I'm a total noob when it comes to plants, this is the first time I've ever taken an interest in plants so i'll need a book with preferably big color photos and easy to understand identification descriptions to make sure i get the right plant.. and i'll need to know what parts of the plant are edible and how it's prepared.

So far, there have been two books i've been considering, being..
Best-Tasting Wild Plants of Colorado and the Rockies
Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Rockies

The first book covers less plants but has more detailed info on each. The second book covers way more plants but at the expense of less detailed info, which is why i'm leaning towards the first one.

Does anyone here know of any other books i might wanna consider? Or if you have one of these books mentioned above, i'd love to hear your opinion about it.

Good deal thanks snow! Looking forward to getting it in the mail in a few days and putting it to use this week. VT also recommended Petersons Guide to Edible and Medicinal Wild Plants which I got as well coming. Should be a lot of fun and terrific learning for me.
