I find that coming to the conclusion that the pet is better off dead is the hard part, but once that decision has been made the rest is fairly easy. You become consumed with, “what is the easiest, most effective, least traumatic way to do this?”

I killed my last dog with my 303 to the back of his skull. If i had to do it again I’d be looking to overdose the dog with some kind of anaesthetic. Both meet the criteria to ease the pets suffering, but the anaesthetic would be much cleaner.

Yes, I agree. I think it would be waaaay to traumatic to "clean" up after putting a bullet in him than the actual act. I don't think I could handle that!
