Sprouting is a great way to get "fresh greens," loaded with vitamins and other nutritional goodies. When we get in the sproutin' mood, we do alphalfa and mung beans. Haven't tried "chia" before. Gonna have to give it a go.

Thanks for the heads-up, Tangalor!

Hey, oh wow, I NEVER knew that it was edible or even thought about it really. Man, that seems like a heckuva plant! That would make one good food source for your BOB, and it wouldn't be that tempting to eat in times before the sky begins to fall. Thanks for posting this very much dude! I think I am going to order it from that link you provided, but first I am going to check with my local health food store.

COOL.

Tangalor, how long do you suppose those 2 pounds of seeds would last you in a survival situation? I'm just wondering how much I should stockpile.

Well, dry and cool place, they'll last for years and years. They've dug up skins and pottery with the seeds still ready to eat.

Here's the thing, though: don't add water until you're ready to consume. Once water is added, it starts tasting a little weird after about 24 hours if at room temperature. If you refrigerate it, however, it'll last about 2 weeks.

2 pounds of seeds is a LOT, I'd travel with a few ounces if in a BOB or summat, but to stockpile them, make sure they're in a dry cool place, and they'll be fine as long as moisture stays away.

Hope that helps
