not sure about weevils and such, but from my former pest control days most bugs need to freeze at least two weeks to be killed off.

I agree, especially if they happen to be hiding in something dense, like flour. That's why I use my big freezer for long-term storage of flour, cornmeal, Bisquick, cake and quick bread and pancake mixes.
