Default Powerbars - three years past "best by date"

FYI: well I'm just finishing up a box of power bars I forgot to rotate back in 2006, probably bought them in 2005. tasted fine, no problems.

the label says best before and thats what it means, I've had loads of stuff which should have been out of date in a civvy context. if the same powerbar was in an mre then it would have a few more years to go yet.

Been there, seen this, done that !!

With things like that - I take the position that if the bar is not obvioulsy growing some form of life on it's surface, or not trying to walk away from me when I grab for it - it is ok to eat.

Lets face it, with the amount of preservatives and sealing, some of this stuff is bomb proof !

LOL!!!!

And in an emergency food situation you need calories to keep going even if they aren't the freshest tasting.

I just bought 5 dozen energy bars from Emergency Essentials - Be Prepared Emergency Preparedness Food Storage, and they have a 5 year shelf life at least.
