| No offence meant, just a suggestion for your kind consideration. Equipments are always a personal choice depending on what kind of situation/senario/threat we felt we will encounter. As for me, I got a mixture of techno and simple survival stuff, no firearms since we can't carry or own that in my country. I used map and compass plus VHF during my past military operations in primary jungles, which I do support your preferrence. But now with the introduction of GPS, GSM, Satellite Phones and Techno stuff becoming commercially available at affortable prices, I switched the primary reliance to these and a prismatic compass as a backup. Oh no offence taken!! I just wasn't sure who you were talking too! When I go out for long hikes or bushcrafting weeks where I am in a deep woods or forest I do carry a GMRS/FRS two-way radio. I'm just not going to bother with it if I am making a run because I had to Bug out. I will not have a way to charge them so that is why I also have a wind up FM AM radio so that if something changes it will be broadcast on one of the two. Instead I will add 2 more clips of ammo for my handgun (which ever one I decide to carry). As for not being able to carry fire arms in your local, I was wondering if the police or millitary are able to have fire arms on duty.

In my Country, the police and military do carry arms when on duty. I have my M16 and other small arms (Grenades, Rocket launchers, Machine Guns etc) with me for donkey years until I left the military. Does goes back for military training once or twice a year until they felt I am too old for those soldiering stuff .But we can't privately own or carry firearms, thats my greatest regret as I am a truely guns lover. US have such a 'fantastic and free' gun culture which really fit my lifestyle......so much regret not being born there!!! I stumble upon this Forum by accident (been surfing survivalist website for years) and its a great find, finding so many liked minded people sharing survival knowledge and information freely. People around me including my family find me wierd due to my never ending preparation, packing and re-packing, purchasing, readiness in all possible disaster/threat situations I can think of - but there is always one thing missing in my gear - FIREARMS. We cannot own or carry firearms. We cannot even smell it privately . I can only dream that someday I can add a rifle and 2 handguns to my BOB/BOV. By the way, I got a SUV with all-terrain tyres and 'armoured' glass as my BOV, planning to add a Montague Mountain Bike to my list when I can afford it (damn bloody expensive bike, which I can carry along in the SUV).Some further stuff for your consideration: As for radios, I do have a set of Midlands 5 Watts radio (the best I can find within my self-defined specifcation - splash proof, lightweight, 5 watts, camo, dual power and affortable), capable of taking in rechargeable and standard AA battery, thats why I don't need a charging point once my battery went dead. Just keep sufficient backup batteries. As for my GSM Cell Phone, I also carry a portable charger using AA battery. Therefore I always stocked up lithium batteries (AA, AAA and 123 type), more stable, powerful and capable of retaining voltage (for 5 years) and operate in heat or cold environment. As my Country is surrounded by sea, I got two portable water filter, a fresh water filter and a desalinator (got this from Ebay, imported by me from US), both from Katalyn.
