The dead sled is a great tool for transport. The natives used an A frame sled for there gear. They could pull all the skins and cooking items, food and even children with or without a horse. I would say that this would work well for pulling gear. It will slow you down. But if your a gear heavy person or you have very young kids who can't walk far, it beats heaving them on your shoulders or carrying them most of the way.
