I want to make sure other people are not ripped off in a similar fashion here, since so many of us buy gear from the Net from a variety of online storefronts.

Appalachian Tactical Co. (AKA: US Military Surplus.com) Appalachian Military Surplus - Cots, ACU modern army uniforms, Multicam, Blackhawk, Store is a rip off. I recently (Oct.1) ordered a couple of simple items, and according to them, they sent it via US Mail, but it was "undeliverable", even though my mail service has been it's usual exemplary service throughout the timeframe. I complained, and they said they sent out a replacement via UPS this time, yet would not provide me with a tracking number when I asked. They removed the money from my account within days of my initial order, but as of this point, still no order. I have required them via email AND phone message to return my money, and gotten no response. I have sent the information regarding this company's fraudulent processes to the North Carolina DOJ/Bureau of Investigation, the local Prosecuting Attorney on charges of Retail Fraud, Fraudulent Business Practices and Petty Larceny (theft), and to their local Better Business Bureau. To all who frequent this site, avoid these guys like the plague. Apparently there are others out there who have had similar experiences, so I felt that you all should be made aware of the situation, to avoid similar problems. I'd want someone to warn me if such a thing happened to them, and they knew I was prone to ordering from similar places. Caveat Emptor, Buyer Beware.

I also purchased alot from US via Internet, 95% of the purchases are good, 5% goes down the drain.......nothing much I can do but losing the $.

But luckily there isn't too much such unethical suppliers around. Thanks for informing!

Sorry to hear you were scammed.
Are authorities able to recover the funds for you?

Dunno. We'll have to see. However, as I stated to them, I don't care as much about restitution as retribution. I don't want them ripping other people off like this and figuring they can get away with it. So, if they get criminal charges instead of a civil case, I figure that is money well spent, as that will definitely have a chilling effect on future activities like this. It's worth the money I lost if these guys have to defend themselves against charges, prove WHY they did what they did, and get dinged by the state and BBB so they will be watched for problems in the future. I'll get my gear elsewhere from now on. It wasn't a big initial order, and I am sad to lose any money in this economy, but if it saves someone else on a large, expensive order then it is worth the loss on my part.
