I carry 3-50' hanks of 550 paracord in my BOB. I usually have 50' folded up and stuck in my back pocket.

Spindle, spool, or what have you. Whatever you'd put line on is a dobbin, or at least that's what I was taught growing up. Wiki says a dobbin is a workhorse, or a spool for wool, which is something more appropriate.
