Default knifes

i must admit to loving knifes. thru the years i have acumulated alot some are nice some are cheap impulse buys, i can allways find a reason to buy a knife. some of the ones used the most are like this. with my bear spray on a belt i have at this moment a serrated cutco with rubber handle. pawn shop find and a savage cuting tool about4.5inch long blade. i also have a d h russel camp knife i think the trout and bird model.this is 32 years old and has done it all up to cleaning up moose and elk. also of that vintage is another d h russel but this is the skinning model a fair bit bigger it has been severely abused and processed tons of meat it still looks new the sheath looks aged.
there is another knife that my father has passed on large old skinning knife, says solingen i believe are something close this is very old knife ,sharpening has reduced blade size in a unique way.this knife is dear to me remember it being used at our yukon home in the backyard with moose quarters being cut up and all the dogs with bones and scraps. us kids going back and forth to the freezer with all the different packs .

there is also my prize that has been with me since the 14 year old won the knot tying contest at boy scouts. it is a military style knife with a leather handle and serrated back edge i have seen this style knife posted here before. this has truly suffered abuse abd has been great.

for foldouts i was given a camillus for a gift it is like a razor, also a very nice little buck was given to me from my son.

there is a massive bladed ruko kicking around here also very heavy full tanged but it doesnt get used much at all sure like the feel of it tho.

this covers my favourites but obviously one needs utility knives, fishing household garage truck etc etc thank god for knifes.

I've always got a Leatherman on me.
Either a SideClip
(my favorite) or a
Charge Xti
(my second favorite & actually more useful, but slightly less pocketable)
If it's just a folder,

Benchmade Ruckus
(fullsize)
Buck Stider
(poorman's strider)
Victorinox Farmer
(the best SAK)

Fixed

Cold Steel Ghurka Kukri
(the big one)
EOD Breacher bar
(prybar/chopper/entry tool)
Cold steel Safekeeper III
(small & stout pushdagger/skinner)

I guess I am just to "old school" my go to knife is the Buck 110 Folding Hunter. I have one I have carried since 1993 and it does everything I need. I have a bunch of other fixed blade knives, but I keep coming back to the Buck. It is easy to carry and does not bind or hang up getting in and out of vehicles, canoes, etc.

My Benchmade Auto Stryker. Everyday. Everywhere.
A breeze to sharpen to a razor edge. Most reliable auto I've carried.

First I would point out that I never "beat the crap" out of my knives. If I need to chop something, I get an ax.

As for favorites...

My all-day, everyday knife is the Victorinox Fieldmaster.

My current favorite fixed blade is the Buck Alpha Hunter w/ rosewood scales.

When he gets back into making knives again (he's been in the process of moving from Great Brittain to the USA), I plan on buying a Huntsman from RobTattoo Knives

The Huntsman from robtatooknives.co.uk

Everyday come hell or high water I have my Gerber Sportman(600) multiplier either on my belt or a 400 in my pocket, I can't live without it.
Knifewise I've been using my Izula for all my cutting task's, it rides in my front pocket. I also carry an RC-3 vertically on my belt.

Can't live w/o.

TOPS Mocassin Ranger (fixed)
Victorianox-swiss army (folder)

Both sharpen quick and easy, for me, and retain thier edges. I have beat the CRAP out of my TOPS on countless outings into the jungles and kyaking. It has never failed me for wich I have employed it. OUTSTANDING tool.

Thanks
Chris
