Default ban snaring in some states like arizona

hey I just joined because I would like to ask you all a question

Im in arizona and I have seen the game and fish regulations on snaring, it says no snares allowed except a few exceptions like on private land , ect. I have a hunting license so I could go out with a .22 if I wanted but Id like to practice with some snaring its more fun . Small snares arent going to catch (and hinder) anything large like a whitetail . So is anyone going to care if I go camping and try to catch a few squirrels / rabbits ?

I´m assuming no one is going to care even if they do find out, as long as I atleast remove the snares when im done camping thks !

Here in Michigan you have to have a fur animal snaring/trapping license to set anything. I don't know what Arizona's laws are, but most of those laws haven't changed since the 19th century. Snares are illegal to set without that license, and can land you in a world of trouble with C.O.'s. The point of the restrictions is to prevent people from indiscriminate snaring which can kill threatened or endangered species, or domestic pets, rather than their intended game target. Your state's DNR site should have all the information about what you can set and when, and if you need a license to do it legally. Otherwise, poaching is poaching.

here legally its rabbits and thats it, you have to check the snares twice a day and they must be a simple pegged snare, no springs or fig 4's even though they are more effective.

doesnt stop us though.

Snaring and traps could definitely kill or mortally injure other animals (and PEOPLE), so getting a license is just retarded due to the glaring fact that the threat is still there... the only difference is that with obtaining a license, you are at least more aware of the dangers and will hopefully do everything you can to eliminate the dangers as much as is humanely possible, whereas those without a license will probably just be ignorant and thereby potentially hurt other creatures that weren't intended for the particular snare/trap.

I can understand the madness, but personally, it is on the verge of those gray areas of asking does it really help much? Maybe there is a statistic out there that proves it does. I don't know.

All I know is... if I am hungry enough and forced to consider snaring small animals for food, to hell with obeying man's laws!!!

Yeah , the only problem is that when it comes time to depend on snaring in a survival situation god forbid I won´t be experienced with snares

You are good to go on private land here - but you have to check regularly.

Never had much sucess with my trials when I was younger.
