Default what is knife collecting good for?

This is a question that I always get when I show people I trust my knife collection or I am talking to people about my collection. The other one I get is you can only use one knife at a time so why have so many and why have knives that you never use? Here are two reasons 1st I love knives and and axes and 2nd in the past couple of weeks I have sold 14 knives out of my collection to purchase a new eotech sight and a new tactical boom stick plus upgrades with no cash out of my pocket. I did this with out selling any of my favorites either, no randalls or vintage cold steel or pre 1976 buck knives where harmed in this transaction. Oh I did buy a new benchmade 690 at the same time I just cant help my self.

hi... my name is mac and I am a knife-a-holic

lol

I know the feeling - i have 40-50 knives in my closet right now! Some are for sale and some are mine.

It is hard to explain to folks sometimes... i have certain knives i like to use for certain things. As i type this, I am in the midst of packing for a survival training I am conducting this weekend... the hardest part is choosing the knives to bring! I will easily have 4 or 5 with me and I can guarantee I will use them all!

I know. I have dress knives ( for weddings ), EDC knives, work knives, Rescue, fighting, fishing, hunting, survival, combat, customs and let us not forget multi tools, axes and hawks. I just can't help my self and the place I work at does not help and as an appraiser it is even worse. I always tell my self just one more and well that has not worked so well, with 100 plus moving in and out of my collection this year so far. I am glad my wife excepts this problem I have, but I think it is becuase when I need money I just pick a few to sell like a randall model 14 for a full brake job on my truck I hope there is not a cure for this.

the only way to know you have enough knives... is when you have ALL of the knives...

I always give a simple answer "you can never have too many (or you can never have enought) guns (or knives)".

i like this philosophy!

for me collecting has do to with touching history... plus the beauty of a knife is amazing... each has elegant lines but has a deadly part to them and if you are not careful you can get cut (sorry for the pun)... it really hard to put into words the ideas that are floating in my mind... Some of the knives i get are just on looks but have no practical reason at all like the Hibben Griffyn or the Titan. Some are pure History... my grandfather gave me a bayonet that he got from his father that pick it up in WWI. I have replicas for ancient swords.

really what more can i say.

If someone were to ask me that i would probably come back with a smart aleck answer like-" why do people collect dolls? You can't play with them all!" Or 'why do people collect stamps that have already been used, the price just went up last week and you can't re-use them" Coins I have a hard time refuting that logic... money is money, new or old. I collect knives because they ALL have uses!!

LOL!!!

They all have different features. One of my favorite S&W's is balanced perfectly and fit's my hand like none other. But, It's little large for everyday. That's where the kershaw onions are awesome. Slim and comfortable to wear in a waist band.

And, girls need to accessorize so good boot knife is a necessity. I have 2 sizes depending on the boot.

When I used to run, one of the neck knives went with me.

I could go on but you get the idea...
