With that plastic sheath... it is about an inch or 2 longer then it needs to be. For my buddy headed to Afghan. .. I trimmed the bottom of it off then reinserted into the sheath. i then folded the bottom of the sheeth up on itself and use the bottom 2 eyelets to tie paracord around it... this shortening the whole sheath by about 3 inches.
BUT a leather one would look sweet!!!
I have a Tom Brown Tracker and scout... they are nice too... but that RAK is a freaking monster!
I really like it. It’s been permanently attached to my hip since I got it…with exception to work and bed.
I still haven’t thrown it yet, although it has a nice feel about it that way…not to mention it would probably stick in regardless of which end hit the target.
Holds a beauty edge. I hacked down a 5 cm diameter sapling with a half dozen carefully placed strikes.
She doesn’t have a name yet. I’m not prone to naming my stuff anyway, but like a sturdy ship, she’s a she.
I fully expect it to outlast me, and the orange handle should improve the chances of relocation. But it is like a baby right now, and I wouldn’t put down a baby and forget where.
I’m not sure about the sheath. I haven’t tightened up the plastic yet, but it’s the shear size that doesn’t quite work for me. I’ll size it up for some modifications, or I may fashion a new one out of an old beaver pelt I have lying around.
I was showing it off at our Qualification Shoot and got a few ooh and ahhs. One guy had his Tom Brown Jr. Tracker there…mine’s nicer.
Cheers.
enjoying the blade? Name it yet? I wa showing someone else one of those this weekend... it is a nice knife... one of those hand it down to your kids someday knives...
It is. I was on board HMCS Calgary on the first leg of Exercise Western Spirit. 4th Canadian Ranger Patrol Group - Exercise Western Spirit
I only went as far as Ft. St. John though. From what I was told I made a good choice.
Is that you in yours?
