cool! I assume you are working with 4 cords? I just hold them in my hand; the only thing I hang or attached when working is a belt or a long sling. post pics when you are done please!

Hello kevin, I was working on some new knots and trying to get the square crown sennit (named in the book i have) to going. the challenge for me is to find the best way to position the cord while workin it. do you hold yours in hand or hang it from something. say to make a key chain or lanyard attachment. Thanks for any help

thanks for the input. I'm gonna work on these myself first. The boys will be really excited to work on these.
thanks again

great question. I'd say from my view the most important are the ones I use the most for day to day stuff: bowline for loops, round turn & two half hitch (I use this anywhere someone else might use a clove hitch), taught-line hitch (guy lines), double sheet bend for tying two ends together, and the truckers hitch (tying stuff down tightly). of course lashings and whippings for tying stuff together/shelter building are important, but not necessarily "knots" per se

Hey Kevin,
Since you're the "knot" tying person here, and seem to have more experience than myself at hiking and camping, what are your thoughts on the 5-8 most important knots to know how to tie and use. I teach a Royal Ambassador's class at my church and i'm incorporating some of the camping stuff into our class. They have a campcraft section that we will be working on in time. Thanks.
