It isn't really an old stomping ground, but I have been there a time or two.
-
Wasn't aware you had already been to Pointe Aux Chien area before. So it's an old stomping ground for you. How long ago was this?
-
I wasn't aware Wildlife and Fisheries had a bunkhouse. That's even better. I'm located eighteen miles south of Houma.
-
Thanks for the info, I have never stayed at Houma, I normally stay in Lafayette or at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries bunkhouse at Pointe Aux Chiens Wildlife Management Area. Don't you live in or near Houma?
-
FYI, closest hotel/motel accomadations are located in Houma, approximately eighteen miles north of Pointe Aux Chien.

Thanks Cajunlady. We still plan to begin construction on Pointe Aux Chien sometime this year. Our engineers are in charge of that and I know they will get it going ASAP.
-
Yes, many great people on our site, including you my friend. Was wondering if Pointe Aux Chien is still on your agenda next year?

Wildlife Management Area, the Pointe Aux C WMA is owned by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and my grant will restore over 1,000 acres of coastal marsh by repairing levees and stopping salt water intrision into this section of the marsh..
-
I didn't know you lived near Houma. I have a project we just got funded at Pointe Aux Chenes WMA. We are supposed to start construction in 2011.

It is not that bad in Monroe, especially where I live. My house is on one of the two ridges east of the Ouachita River that didn't flood in the 1927 flood or any other. The ground is pretty wet, but that isn't much trouble.
Is you house getting wet or are you above the flood line?
