i just got yesterday my new delorme earthmate pn-40 gps- it's nice seems to work exceptional i locked 6 satellites to calibrate seems really good- i'm gonna test it out tonight with a "blind" hike in the jungle just using the gps out and back..

Good luck with that... hopefully the batteries hold up and you don't get any water on it from the river or rainfall or anything. If it fails you're going to wish you'd brought some more gear.

not worried about it i know this island very well- i could traverse it in my sleep... and the unit is fairly watertight -can be submerged--

That Delorme is a great unit, one of the few up to mil standards for dust, shock and vibration. The only one that is submersible. It is also the only unit that you can down load true USGS quad maps on plus aerial photos.

sry-i will post pics tomorrow- yes it is a nice unit- and yes i know the island well- but i just wanted a gps for when i go somewhere i don't know as well-
plus it's fun to play with ie:geocaching and such...
