Since I am a great supporter for recycling items here is one I carry in my BOB. Haven't seen this one posted yet.

Once make-up compacts have been used up I wash them up really well and store a couple in my bag. It is protected by it's cover so less chance of it getting broken. Some of them actually have deep enough wells to store small items of importance such as a tweezer, razor blades or needles.

I've got a little one with a sighting hole in it that works great. I carry in my backpack. its helpful to practice "aiming" with a regular mirror too in case you have to improvise.

I'd say use the starflash signal mirror. small and easy to use.

If you don't already own a compass, make sure the one you pick up has a mirror on it. That way you get the 3 for 1 deal.

I have the starflash signal mirror and its really easy to aim it, not to mention its really tough. Also its a true mirror in every sense because unlike those cheap ones you get in a survival kit that are cheaply made this one you can actually use it to shave with, apply first aid to yourself, etc. Because its made of lexan and not glass its virtually indestructable and floats as well in case you drop it. Hope this helps

At the fear of sounding stupid. How is the best way to practice aiming a signal mirror? I am completely new to this.
