Oddly, I'm not surprised by that. (Adds "Tactical Forensic Technician" to the growing list of CW's skills)

There are a lot of lights out there and I don't particularly want to buy each to evaluate so I am listening to what you all have to say.

I did pick up a light last spring. It is a Mag light, 3 cell LED. It used AA batteries that last forever and you can put them in medicine plastic jars 3 at a time for storage. Plus, the light is very brite. I am considering upgrading the bulb and different switching which will add a lot to it. It is like $22. I highly recommend it and as always with Mag, lifetime guarantee!

I love a good Mag light.

I also found a nice key ring sized solar powered flashlight. I no batteries needed and it's really bright. $4.99 at Radio Shack.

CGU, can you post pics or the model info? I'm in the market for one and that sounds perfect

There have been some excellent suggestions for small lights here. My personal choice is Streamlight 72001 KeyMate. It's a little more powerful than some, but still quite small. I have 3 of them now. One on my keyring, one on my SAR vest and one I wear around my neck while camping or on overnight events. You can see it here. I also bought a whole pack of batteries cheap on eBay so I'm all set for a while.

For my keychain sized lights I like the Photon, but have found that the knock offs of them work every bit as well (without multiple modes). I also like the Streamlight Nano. Both are very bright and provide light for a long time.

If you have a Dollar Tree near you, lowest price I have found local for the button cell lithum batteries. 3 for 1$

I`m really interested in the head-lamps you have.......I use them to get to and from my deer stands in the dark. My experience with them has been, the AA models are bulky, while the Lithium battery models eat the batteries like I do venison tenderloin.

Would you share the experience you have with which models and how you would rate them?
