I have a Photon II light, and a 9v Pak-lite Super (actually a couple - white, IR, and UV), and I keep several small similar lights on my keys, in my pockets and packs, and in my EDC. They are small and light, and can't be beat for making your way around if the lights go out unexpectedly. Definitely a must-have, since it might be the only light you have, if you aren't walking around with your patrol Maglite all day long. +1 on the Photon Light. I also keep one on the zipper of my alice pack. I keep a Fenix Digital P3D Premium Q5 in my left pocket at all times. 65 hours @ 12 Lumens on low & 1.8 hours @ 215 lumens on high. BLINDINGLY bright for any flashlight & this one measures in @ 4.1" long.

I have one attached to my pack. I find it most useful for finding my flashlight, although I’ve pretty much got the system down where everything has its place, and I can find it in the dark.

| IR light will invisibly illuminate an area, only visible through night vision equipment. Looks like sunlight out there to me, through an IR camera or an IR sensitive goggle or scope, but to anyone else out there, it's still pitch black. UV can be used in a similar way if you have the right gear, but I use mine to spot interesting nocturnals. Certain species glow like phosphorus in the dark, but only in the UV range. If you hit them with a UV light, it looks like Glow-in-the-Dark stuff from when you were a kid. You can also mark trails, tunnels, and other things with a UV reactive marker, and when your UV light hits them, they glow. The markers don't show up visibly, so it doesn't deface something to the naked eye. Proteins will glow in the dark too, if you spray them with Luminal, and then use a UV light on 'em. You REALLY don't want to do that on the sheets in the next hotel you stay at.....honest. You just DON'T. You will never sleep in a hotel bed again, when you see how many "stains" remain on sheets, pillows and bedding even AFTER they have supposedly been washed. Ugh!

I HAVE NV gear, and a spray bottle of Luminal. I don't keep them in my Bugout Bag, but I do own them, and have used both on several occasions.
