I found the flares that I wanted at a place called Life Suppot International, and whenever I went to checkout they had a message on the bottom of the page saying that the minimum order was $150.00. Forget it!

I actually was looking for the pen flares at Bass Pro when I came across them. I've got a plan in my head to modify the launcher to shoot .22LR. Anyways, a pocket kit of these is twenty-few dollars. If you're still lookin' next time I go, I'll help a brother out!

Remember, if you are buying mail order, these things constitute a "Haz-mat" item and as such will be ungodly expensive to ship to you. You would be better to find a local source like a sporting goods or marine supply shop where you can buy 'em or special order 'em over the counter.

You can always shoot three times in the air for help.

Unless you are shooting a bow. I found that don't work too good.

over here they banned all that, we used to get issued 22 pen flares but someone got upset when we had barrels made (for sentries) and they ended up on the street (allegedly) then there was the issue of a french made flare gun made of plastic which hit the new about the same time they caught people reactivating deactivated uzis and such.

still got seveal pens and empty cases which are now filled with wax and lead shot to ruin someones day.
