Default New FireSteel Prices

Over the last week or so I have been doing some serious thinking about FireSteels and the need to get them out there. Fire is one of the most important survival necessities of all - and I believe these FireSteels save lives.

I hand out FireSteels like they are candy to people I meet. Nearly everybody who tries them immediately sees their value. I wish everyone had at least one FireSteel at home, in their car, office, wallet, and backpack.

Recently a 17-year old boy was "lost" while attempting to climb nearby Mount Washington. This mountain is known for having "the worlds worst weather" and many have died on its slopes, often of exposure.

What happened is that he set out in the morning during cooler temperatures. However unseasonably warm weather later in the day caused snowmelt to swell the streams he had crossed, preventing him from getting back down the mountain. As a result he spent several days wandering around up there. A perfect candidate for becoming wet and cold - and sucumbing to the elements.

As it turned out, he was OK when found. But all the time he was missing I wished he had a FireSteel and knew how to use it. It may have been the one tool that saved his life if he had gotten into trouble. If need be he could have hunkered down in the krummholz (the dwarf forest that grows near treeline) with a fire and awaited help.

The unexpected can happen. Whenever you venture out into the wilder places - or face the possibility of natural or man-made disaster - you should always have on hand the basics of survival. And I believe FireSteels are an integral part of anyones kit.

To make what is becoming a long story shorter, I've crunched the numbers and decided to reduce the FireSteel prices so that they are more affordable to all.

I know many people, including some Survival Topics members, are having a tough time in this poor economy and every dollar counts. I see this increasingly in some of the FireSteel orders that have been coming through, people ordering one pup or even just one mini FireSteel. I suspect it is often because they do not have much extra money laying about after paying the rent, utility bills, and food etc.

I'll do what I can to help you guys out. If you have any suggestions or can recommend other products you would like added to the Survival Topics store, let me know. Perhaps we can expand the selection and continue to offer the best prices possible so that people can have the gear they need to survive come what may.

Your friend and fellow survivor, Ron

Ron,
I saw "free shipping for $50USD". Would this apply to orders from Canada also?

Yes, free shipping to Canucks and all Canadians for that matter. (I can say this because I am a French Canadian "Canuck", living near the border).

WOW, Thank's Ron for your kindness and generosity. I am going to spread the word wherever I can about the Firesteels. I agree with you, that everyone should have one and know how to use it.

Ive only bought 2 and gave one to a freind. He gave me a spool of snare wire the next time I saw him and said he loved the firesteel. Ive got to get a couple more and a small one for my wallet. Thanks for the generosity and for a great survival site.
