I think just low traffic. I know I'm trying to keep it strictly for gear and keep most of the general discussion here. Just easier for me that way.

People always feel more comfortable in their usual/normal surroundings. It may take a bit to get it up and running.Yes I have been over there quite a bit. I frequently check in just to see what's going on. Usually there are about 4-8 posts a day if I'm not mistaken, sometimes more. The guests that "stop by" to check it out, Probably aren't going to join until they see more activity there. I strongly urge you to stop in and browse the site at the very least. The more activity it gets the more likely it's success. If you have anything new or are thinking about getting something new, stop by and ask folks what their opinion is about your item. Some here have done that already. Yes I started threads for Subjects,in the Book Section. So if you have a book you would like to review stop by and do so. Remember it won't get going strong unless you and I support it with a full effort. If you haven't stopped in and introduced yourself .... all I have to say is why not? Traffic is the only thing that will "Jump start it". There are still some sub Forums that have absolutely nothing posted there.... Virgin Territory there waiting to have ground broke. I'm waiting on someone to pass me in number of posts, You can't do that if you don't go there.

The Plenty of Gear forum (POG for short) is only a couple of weeks old. It can be difficult to get a new forum off the ground since there is a catch-22: few people will join the discussions if only few people are discussing! I see today there have been 12 posts, which isn't bad for a brand new forum. The idea for POG is that it is a forum where anyone can post about gear of all types - not just survival gear. POG is growing - baby steps at first - and will eventually hit a critical mass of participants where it will become increasingly popular. Just takes time, that's all. If you have some new or used gear to sell or want more information about a certain piece of gear, feel free to discuss it on POG. There will soon be an online store on POG, administered by me and run by a Survival Topics forum member. If you have special gear you would like to sell on POG (such as paracord creations) contact me and we can discuss it. |
