the sas pocket size is still probably the most usefull out there. I find elements in
most of them which is usefull but a pain when you want to select the best one.

I like the antonio akkermans book for its basics and colour pictures, dont rate the ray mears stuff much but it and the USRROG manual has a few interesting tips especially on what doesnt work. got the new bear grylls coming which I hope is better than the chris ryan one.

I have to agree with Crazy on the SAS pocket version as much as it pains me; although I'm in good company with Snowshoe

So far it's Hawke's Green Beret Survival Manual.

Hmmm yes... keep em coming folks... I do love the SAS and the SAS pocket .... but I think I may have to put together one that is more geared to North America and maybe Central America. Since if SHTF I will not be going over seas. Perhaps with a really good wild greens section. Lots of color photos and what not.. also maybe some stuff geared to stalking local game. What do you think?

We have several threads already here on various choices on survival books. You can look them up using the SEARCH feature. Also, Poco put together a thread for this over on the Plenty of Gear site, where I listed a good selection of general survival, including wilderness and primitive survival, books.

Just trying to avoid overlap and repetition, that's all Slade. You can post whatever you want, but if you want a more complete listing of books that fit the need expressed in the OP, then we have at LEAST 6 to 8 posts here that have covered the territory, and have some excellent suggestions by folks that aren't active members anymore. This post will certainly glean new titles by new members, but the older ones are valuable to look up as well.
