Try to enjoy yourself.

Each of the 1000 projects previously submitted to you take a lot of time, especially if you'll be experimenting with techniques and such.

Sounds like you've got the basics pretty well planned out, shelter, food and water and such. Get yourself situated and then take some time to focus on a few projects.

Haste makes waste =D Take your time, enjoy yourself.

WoW! Did they give you some pointers or what? LOL Someone did mention you may want to trying boiling water in a foil pot or cup. You don't really need this item but I mentioned on another thread that I use the framework from Jiffy Pop popcorn specifically to wrap foil around to give the pot more stability and also gives me a handle to hold onto when stirring whatever is in the pot. The frames are flat, an ideal size and weigh practically nothing.

Hi M,

Sounds like you will be in Wayne, NF?

Don't know if you've roasted acorns before but you may need to leach them so they are not bitter. Hickory nuts might be falling too. I miss those!! They are good.

Too bad you have to carry all your water in but it sounds like a lot of fun!

Yes, we will be down in Wayne NF. I haven't been there before so I am really looking forward to it.

I have never done acorns before, but I have read up on them and will be leeching them (6-12 boils from what I read), plus other techniques.

A video may be nice to do sometime, but this time is going to be more relaxed and just trying out a bunch of this stuff. I want to make this a regular trip, and just keep integrating more and more skills and trimming down what we carry.

Have fun and don't take it too seriously! It is possible to enjoy the practice process as well as learn

take enough stuff to play with though. I'd practise one match firelighting to get it down pat then migrate to steel and lens.

for tinkering then I'd play with traps, water catchers/filters and camp breads
