Hmm, I say make a necklace with a steel vertical member with a rough edge and a notch in the center, a crossbeam made of flint, and lash together the two with wire or leather strips. Call it a 'crucifix' and no one will mess with it. Undo the cordage and use the metal beam as a scraper and the flint crossbar as your sparker.

There are ways to camoflauge anything, or hide it in plain view.

Hmmm now there's a plan thanks CW....you are absolutely right, I was getting hidebound and needed to think outside the box. Now that I think on it I believe I saw a crucifix with a knife camber advertised somewhere recently. Seems a little sacrilegious though.

Well, for what it's worth, I would keep your doors locked, and ALWAYS have pepper spray, or some way to defend yourself, because you NEVER know... getting mixed into politics like this, ESPECIALLY like this, if you stand your ground and seem strong and are potentially able to gain a victory, you might be neutralized, or made an example of.

Maybe it is not as dire, but if I was in your shoes, I would start by informing people I didn't have any plans on committing "suicide" any time soon, and if I was ever found hung on some rafters, or shot in the back of the head execution style, to have it SEVERELY investigated!

... Just keeping it real. :(

I won a school district shooting contest in 6th grade.it was held by the school district and run by police officers@ the Pasadena police shooting range.What the heck has happened to society?Granted it was 27 years ago,but what the hell.

sorry to hear, this stuff kills me. I felt the same way about the kid w/ the scout knife. these foolish people know who the problem kids are. the fools are sending mixed messages telling people to have a kit, bug out bag etc., be prepared and so on, the punishing those who do. unacceptable. wish I could help. I know you'll give them hell though! keep us posted please.

LaRem, what does this reply refer to? The OP here was about the school giving grief about carrying "weapons" into school in an EDC pack that LPM67 made for her daughter. While the local school system may be inept, I am pretty sure they aren't going to be hiring hit squads for dealing with pissed off mothers. LOL

Wow... just wow... It's almost like I'm reliving high school here. I was raised by VERY Christian, VERY old school grandparents and I always carried in my back pack a "first aid" kit since I started school. It had all your first aid stuff, plus a Ready to Eat, a small folding knife, a few water proof matches, A scalpel blade, surgical sutures, and a small keychain mace canister. Well, I got in trouble for fighting (defending myself) and when they opened the first aid kit I was expelled. My Grandmother marched straight into the dean of students and before he could get out two words she had slapped him in the face. (I am not saying you should slap anyone) By the time she had walked out of the office, I was back in school WITH my first aid kit. She was asked to lock it, which was fine because it had zippers that a lock was put through and I was given the key. This was before two kids shot up a school with shotguns and black coats though.
