Soon our children will have to have their fingernails and teeth removed, oh yeah...and toe nails. You get them back when your 18.

I suppose elbows and knees will need to be removed too, and inject bone softeners into the cranium...that should keep everyone safe.

It is ludicrous. At the very least, if I seemed to be losing an uphill battle, i would insist that the school stock survival equipment, food, and water if my kid isn’t allowed to.

You must now wrap your children head to toe in bubble wrap for the safety of all other students. Sure they will lose about 30 pounds in water weight, and look like the Michilan Man, but hey at least they will be safe! If not, mandatory bubbles will be issued at your expense to keep our children safe from not only other children, but Swine Flu as well.

Thank you Big Brother. We LOVE you........

Default The outcome

I have agreed that my daughter will not carry a blade (although they have agreed to a pair of foldup scissors) or matches/lighter in her kit. I didnt say anything about her not having a blade elsewhere on her person....hehehe.
The PTB did not even recognise that she is still left with two alternative firelighting equipment. I have also been asked by the deputy Principal to give some lessons at the local Cub scout troop.
The girl that helped herself has not been punished as she had assumed that as my daughter's friend she could borrow from her!!!!

The school claim that their CD cabinet is adequate for students...they are convinced that a 500ml bottle of water and some sweets, a first aid kit (only designed for 20), and a couple of blankets is adequate for a school that has a role of close to 500 students! They obviously dont live in the real world.
My daughter will survive if TSHTF because she is equipped/trained to get by for at least 24 hours to give me time to get to her. She is also having some martial arts training to assist her in keeping her belongings. She is a generous soul so will probably want to share with her friends so I am working on kits for her closest buddies and a couple of extras for the boys that seem to be constantly in tow.

Responsible people carry what they need to help themselves. Schools say no knives! they are weapons, weapons are bad. Carry a kit that may help you in an emergency? You cannot do that! The government will keep you safe!
See the pattern? A global problem is that gooberment wants control. Period. Is there anyway that you can home school?

GREAT news. sounds like they are pretty stupid people (no matches, lighter, blade) yet at least you've gotten through this mini-crisis. good job. now you gotta teach the scouts to be prepared!!

boys!! oh no. if you don't really like a particularly boy, maybe you can swap the firesteel for a matching sized blank of useless metal!

Depending on if you want to go tit for tat, obviously you’ve got some good argument here.

There must be somewhere law how much first aid per student is required, if not yet, maybe time to do some thinking and change it.

Maybe every class should have one kit?

Well of course the schools meager supplies are adequate. Nothing bad ever happens at schol or where children are.

Maybe you should suggest they do some research, and consult with a crisis preparedness consultant. If my math is correct that 1st aid kit is adequate for only 1 in 25 student injuries and if all had same type injuries would be grossly inadequate. This is unacceptable by any standards. I know they are expecting nothing worse than a bloody nose occasionally. It sounds as if it's up to you to point out what could happen if a small plane crashed near the school, and how inadequate this would be.
