Agreed, Mel.

Not to mention a Columbine scenario, natural disaster, etc etc etc

Forgive my language here, but these idiots NEED to get their heads out of their asses and STOP putting the lives of these children at risk with their complacency and "oh it can never happen here" attitude.

LPM, I commend you and your resolve. I wish there were more parents like you around here in Georgia. IMNSHO, there are far too many people who get complacent and don the "I don't need to do anything, my family will do fine" and give exactly zero thought to anything outside of their comfort zone, which as we all know, is an invitation to get themselves and those around them either severely damaged or dead.

I apologize but I am very passionate about the protection and health/well being of my family and when someone cares enough about their own as well as those around them gets crapped on because of attitude, I get pissed.

It sounds like everything worked out. It's best to leave it at that.

Default The ultimate in "zero tolerance"

Ahh, the anti-gun and zero tolerance movements have found their common champion. This kid's principal sounds like JUST the tool they've been looking for. Imagine, kicking a kid out for a LEGO gun (you know, from the tiny little LEGO police or soldiers??)? Take a look at this and tell me that things haven't gotten COMPLETELY out of hand in this country???

Laura Timoney fumes after son Patrick, 9, is busted for bringing 2-inch-long toy gun to PS 52

Thanks for bumping this up CW I was meaning to give you all an update. My daughter's OLD school now has a first aid kit designed for minor injuries for upto 100. The CD cabinet now has adequate water for each student for upto 12 hours. Teachers are now permitted to supply their own items in their lockable cupboards. The school tried to tell me they had adequate food supplies in the school canteen.....I suggested they see what was left after lunch one day....they did and discovered a couple of apples and a sandwich....new law here in NZ stopping public schools from stocking high calorie products for students! Kids are not permitted to bring high calorie items to school, but are allowed scroggin (the idiots over here obviously have no understanding of nutrition and what a high calorie item is).

My daughter has started high school now and I had a call from her new principal to let me know that her new school has the same rules as her old...these principals are a bunch of old gossips! I've suggested coming in to discuss my concerns in person, which has so far been declined. LOL. A teacher I know suggested that I now have a rep as been a hardened nut job!

I have a question....does any one know a way I can disguise pain killers and a anti clotting tab (aspirin), I was wondering if a sports drink sachet with aspertamine in it would do the job as a thinner? School has no tolerance policy re: meds (even on prescription) and I want my daughter covered for every eventuality....she had a clotting prob a couple of years ago and the specialist recommended that she always carry 1/2 an aspirin for any really bad knocks.

if your kid has a problem with clotting, you can get a doc to write a letter and the school will allow it (if they are real sticklers they may make it be held at the nurses office)

Hmm, no ideas unless they have a "Gummi chewable" aspirin there that you could disguise as candy? Only other thing would be putting the packet into the lining of her coat or something. She could access it if she needed to, but otherwise it would be hidden from all but the most thorough searches. Perhaps a packet of Alkaseltzer powder that has aspirin in it? That might be flat enough to hide in the lining of a coat or under the padding of a folding lunchbox?

Sure sounds scary there in NZ.

Personally I can't imagine sending your kid to school to be worth the chance
of you or your kid going to jail.

With a record of any type your basically economically ruined for life.

This is the trend in the USA and I am sure it is accelerating there in
NZ as well.
