Default Could you survive locked in your house for six weeks?

Government agents just quarantined you inside your house. The doors are guarded. You can't get out. You're told you've been exposed to swine flu and must remain in quarantine for six weeks. You have your normal water supply, gas and electricity. No deliveries will be made, you cannot go shopping, so you must survive on the food you have in your home right now. Can you do it? Are you prepared for such a basic scenario? Could you provide 126 meals per person in your household using just what you have on hand right this minute?

I could as I am the only one in my house. So my supplies would not deplete as fast as others. And I have more that enough to keep me entertained and busy.

Yes, but my freezer is in an outbuilding where i have a lot of food. Chances are I would be allowed out of my house, but not off my property (53 acres), in which case I could sustain my wife, myself, and my dog indefinitely.

There is forested Crown land (public land) behind my place (100000+ acres), and they would never know if I went up there foraging / trapping / hunting anyway. There is a fish bearing stream that bisects my property too, so there’s more protein and water.

If I had no power I would be salting, smoking and otherwise preserving the stuff from my freezer.

In winter it would be tougher, but at least the stuff in my freezer would be o.k.

If I was quartined to the home I am not sure i could live.I got about 140 gallons of water, a small 4.6 cubic feet kenmore fridge and a small 5 cubic foot kenmore freezer. If i was allowed on my 8 acre property I would have more access to water and a chance to catch rabbit and javelina.

Sweet! A six week vacation!!!
That will suck later when I have no paycheck.

And, if I actually get the flu I have almost everything I need to help myself through it. Just working on a few more items.

My family of 4 could survive for 1 year without a big change in the foods we eat. Fresh lettuce and stuff like that would be missed.

I could always eat the young, sick, and dying. The kids are kinda large, could get 126 meals out of them I think......
