something i used to do when i had the extra money(before i got married lol) was to bid on local storage units that people had abandoned full of property. they would lift the door a foot so people could see there was stuff in there and we would bid blind. most expensive one i bid on was 400 bucks and when i got the unit i found tons of antiques which promptly paid me back my 400 and then some. ive found cameras, knives, guns, got a gocart still. a guy that outbid me on a unit by 20 bucks found a harley in mint condition under a tarp

wowza! that sounds like a fantastic "lottery" to take advantage of...I got to figure out if my local places do that.

That storage unit bidding sounds as it could be a good deal if a guy was between jobs and had a little in savings to get the venture going. Kind of an urban survival thing due to lay-off. Could help pay the bills maybe.

I talked to the manager of a storage unit place around here. I was asking about the bidding. He explained the blind bidding process. I then asked him if he ever went through the unit before it went up for auction. His response ---- Well, duh!
