Want a firesteel that will fit just about anywhere, is light as a feather, yet is still useful for lighting fires?

The Mini is just 3/20th of an inch thick and 2-inches long (3.81 x 50.8mm), and wieghing in at only 1/8th of an ounce (3.66 grams).

Firesteels shorter than this may not have the ability to efficiently shower sparks, and thinner firesteels will just not have very many strikes in them before they wear out.

If you want the smallest firesteel that will still give you a shower of sparks for lighting fires, try the Mini firesteel.

      These Firesteel Mini's fit perfect into my pocket survival everyday carry system (altoids tin).

      I tested a dozen of them and they suit me just fine. I do have smaller hands. Some one with larger hands might need to use something to get a better grip as you almost need the entire length of the mini 2.5'' to get a worthy spark.

      I gave the mini fire steels a four star rating. They would have gotten five stars except that the first mini firesteel I used broke in two.

      In retrospect, it is obvious to me why this happened - this firesteel is small and thin and like any piece of metal of that size if I press down hard on it while one end is resting on a rock it will snap in two. Doh!

      But I learned my lesson and the other mini's are sparking very well when I use my knife as a scraper.
