Many of these disaster survival scenarios are disturbing in that they are caused by man and highlight mans inhumanity to man. Many man-made disasters have already happened in localized areas. For example there have been limited nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan and there is no reason to believe these are the last nuclear war disasters to take place on Earth.
Some of the survival scenarios in this list include those that could or do occur every so often in the earths history. Asteroid impact on the earth, shifting of the earths orbit, and magnetic pole shifts could drastically affect our ability to survive.
Added to the list are the usual natural disasters that hit throughout the world from time to time. Every citizen should be prepared for the usual gamut of hurricanes, floods, wildfires, blizzards and the like.
Disaster preparation for the more common but perhaps less devastating occurances will help you by default to prepare for the biggies like nuclear attack and celestial bodies slamming into the earth.
For example, always have on hand an extra emergency food supply, water, survival gear and medicines. The 15 survival essentials is a good place to start.
