Food bars come in many flavors

Emergency food bars are well adapted to survival supplies. These cookie survival bars have a storage temperature range of between -40 and 300 degrees F and come in waterproof and lightproof packages. Storage space is no problem as the bars are small and light in weight. Emergency Food bars typically have a five year shelf life. These factors make them an excellent choice for survival rations in any situation.

Emergency Food Supply

Emergency Food bars are specialty made to be high in protein and vitamins so that each bar contains enough basic nutrients for a meal. They often come in packages of 9 so that eating one food bar each for breakfast, lunch, and dinner means you have a three day emergency food supply.

In general a daily survival ration of three Emergency Food Ration Bars will supply you with 1200 calories. Under stressful conditions this is is a good base from which to supplement your food intake. I would recommend three times the number of calories per day in a long term emergency survival situation.

You may not want to eat Emergency food bars every day for a year. But throwing a three day supply in the trunk of your car and another in your backpack is good insurance against basic emergencies where obtaining food from the usual sources may not be possible.

Emergency Food Shortage

We all know it is a good idea to have an emergency food supply on hand. In survival or disaster situations, food shortages can be a grim reality. Usually three days is ample time for emergency services to come in and assist with survival needs. Beyond that, I would recommend at least a two week survival cache of supplies, if the actions of FEMA in some recent disasters is any indication. For total disaster preparedness a years supply of food would be best.

Food storage for one year is thought by many to be difficult to attain. However, emergency food bars can be a good supplement to your survival food cache.

Where is a good place to purchase emergency food bars? Another resource of emergency food is food tablets but probably not as good as the food bars. You need at last 6 food tablets 3 times a day. I have some put away at this time.
