Bushcraft Living is one of my favorite survival primitive skills and survival websites and today the site has an article on How to Make a Wax Stove. Now this is nifty.

To make a wax stove all you do is place a piece of old corrugated cardboard in a small can, pour in some melted wax, and you have yourself a great little emergency stove that burns wax as its fuel. Use the portable stove to heat food, heat the inside of a survival shelter, or provide light.

You also want to keep about 1/8" of cardboard above the wax. I failed to do this on my first go at this and had the wax flush with the cardboard top. Needless to say, I played hell at lighting it. Eventually it did light and it did very well indeed. I used beeswax which produced virtually no smoke.
