Huge Dow Chemical Price Hikes

Dow Chemical will be increasing prices by up to 25% in July as well as adding additional shipping surcharges.  If you recall, just a few weeks ago Dow Chemical increased prices by some 20%.

This comes to a total increase in Dow Chemical product pricing of a whopping 50% in just a few months, not even counting the surcharges.  On August 1st Dow Chemical freight surcharges will be set at three hundred dollars for shipping by truck and six hundred dollars by rail.

As the cost of hydrocarbons rises, so does the cost of many products Dow Chemical manufactures.  Most alarming, in my opinion, is the rising cost of fertilizer and other agricultural products; not only is the cost of distributing food via truck, rail, and ship increasing but the cost to produce it is rising dramatically also.

The rising cost of food and energy, both of which were once cheap and abundant, is causing great hardship for many Americans.  Especially in these times of stagnant wage growth and increasing unemployment we feel the pinch both on our way to work in the form of higher gas prices at the pump and when spending our hard earned dollars at the grocery store.

But the Dow Chemical price increases will touch just about every facet of the economy.  Plastics, fertilizers, metals, pesticides, grains, vegetables, meat; the list of rapidly rising prices goes on.

One of the best investments you can make is adding tangible items to your stockpile including food, survival supplies, and other goods.  Prices will only continue to increase and at a rate far higher (and a much safer investment) than you are likely to get in a troubled stock markets and banks.

I have everything I think I (need) as in guns ammo water storage med supplies and the like. I (want) more of course but do not really need it. Now as for food I always over stock can foods (low or no salt) when I find them on sale or the price is right. I have been storing the Bacon - Tuna and beef stew in the pouches, of course I will get tired of eating this food in a short time. What other foods do you recommend for people on a tight budget?  I really enjoy your survival site thank you.
